Anne Main: Statement on Urgent Care Centre procurement
Press Release :
3 November 2009
Commenting on halting of procurement of the Urgent Care Centre for St Albans, as a result of a non-contested procurement, Anne Main, MP for St Albans, said:
“Yet again St Albans seems to be falling foul of procurement processes. We have been promised an urgent care centre and in a city like St Albans it is essential that we have a comprehensive range of local services.
We can’t allow delays to beset the ultimate aim of having fully functioning urgent care facilities. The latest statement from the PCT, issued on 15th October, did not say that they were cancelling an urgent Care Centre in St Albans.
I have written to Anne Walker, Chief Executive of the PCT, to ask for a full briefing and clarification on this matter. I firmly intend to press her on their promise that the City Hospital will be upgraded to include this facility. St Albans has been treated shabbily in the past and we deserve nothing less.”
