Work begins on St Albans city centre rejuvenation project

Preparatory exploration work is being carried out ahead of the regeneration of a site right in the heart of St Albans. The Conservative-led St Albans City and District Council is working to transform a run-down area of land to the south of the Alban Arena.

Full Council to consider Local Plan

Councillors will meet next month to decide whether to support a draft Local Plan (LP) that identifies land in the St Albans District for future development.

First major delivery of Council homes for 30 years

The first large-scale development of new Council homes in St Albans for 30 years has been completed. Twenty-five affordable houses have been built in the Batchwood area by St Albans City and District Council.

Pothole recovery programme sees 10,000 holes filled

Over 10,000 potholes have been repaired in Hertfordshire so far this year as part of a winter recovery programme launched by the Conservative-led county council in response to the harsh winter.


We have worked with the Environment Agency to produce a plan to address the environmental issues affecting Verulamium Park lakes and to improve the River Ver as a natural chalk stream. We will complete consultation to finalise the plan and then seek funding to enable delivery.

St Albans Museum to open Friday June 8th

The new £7.75 million St Albans Museum + Gallery will open its doors to the public on Friday 8 June following a two-year restoration of the City’s Georgian Town Hall.
