Five fly-tippers hit by new on-the-spot fines

Five fly-tippers in the St Albans District have been issued with Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) since the new “on-the-spot” fines were introduced.

One offender was caught after dumping a bicycle, wash basket and a bag of discarded fabrics in the Ashley ward of St Albans.

£720k funding awarded to voluntary and community sector

St Albans City and District Council has awarded £720,000 in funding over the next three years to Citizens Advice St Albans District, Community Central and Open Door. Together, the three voluntary and community sector organisations provide crucial services locally.

Christmas Market extended by popular demand

The St Albans Christmas Market will be open until Saturday 23 December, with the extension being a response to feedback from the public. Last year the market attracted the largest number of visitors since it was launched in 2013 with 118,000 people attending over 25 days.

New affordable homes sites in Sandridge

23 new affordable homes are being built at two vacant sites in Sandridge where garage blocks were demolished several years ago.

The £5.6m affordable housing scheme is being delivered by the Conservative-led St Albans City and District Council.
