Lib Dem Garden Tax

Green waste charge to be introduced

The Lib Dems running the District Council have now run out of money and plan to tax houses with gardens by charging £45 for garden waste collections.

For a Band D property this is an eye-watering 20% increase and will be on top of any across the board increase yet to be announced.

The Lib Dems are blaming COVID-19 but this is to be a permanent increase rather than a temporary measure. It is also cynically being introduced in July, well after the local elections.

The delays in the Old Police Station development have blown a £1m plus hole in the Council's finances and COVID-19 is a smokescreen that could have been covered by reserves.
