It has recently transpired that the Council leadership has given away nomination rights (where St Albans Council allocate tenants) to social housing that is due to be built in the District close to Hemel Hempstead.
The Conservatives are today putting forward proposals to revive and support our local visitor economy, an economy that has been hit so hard during the lockdown. It is crucial for the long term wellbeing of St Albans that we do everything possible to restore vitality to our cathedral city.
The government continues to support business and individuals through the coronavirus crisis. So far over £21m has been distributed in grants to over 1,400 businesses in the District, helping them to bridge the gap until normal trading can resume.
At a council meeting where Cllr White stood as the only candidate and was re-elected as Leader by Labour, the Greens and all Independent Councillors. Labour councillors stated that a ‘confidence and supply’ deal had been offered by the Liberal Democrat’s to get their support.
Hertfordshire County Council is working collaboratively with Public Health and its district and borough councils, to identify how and where it may need to make temporary changes to its roads and footpaths, to better support social distancing.
