The Advisory Task and Finish Group on Taxi and Private Vehicle Hire licensing will focus on the regulations for taxi and private-hire drivers, as the current regulations pose difficulties for drivers who have to compete with Uber.
Mrs Main said: “The growing problem of regulation in an everchanging technological world has to be addressed. “When St Albans taxi drivers approached me about the concerns they had and the difficulties they faced, I felt it important to take this matter to Parliament and to the transport minister.
“Hopefully the group can work in a cross-party and evidence-based manner to get sensible and fair regulation.”
She will be joined on the task force by representatives from the taxi and private-hire industry. The group will meet in September.
